Camp agreements for participants

Camp Vision and Requests of Participants

This camp is founded in the values and practices of Nonviolent Communication. All are welcome with or without previous experience of NVC.  We intend to offer a space where people of all backgrounds and life experiences are accepted, have a voice and take part.

We want the camp to provide a supportive and fun experience, where we can learn and grow our NVC skills and awareness.

We encourage you therefore to make the most of connection, learning and practice opportunities by participating as much as you are able in community life, meetings and workshops.

This is a community camp, and all the organisers are volunteers.  Most tasks during the camp rely on support from everyone to make it work, so please do step forward to help if you can. This work also helps us connect with each other on camp and form our community.

Tensions or difficulties may come up between people at the camp. We want to work with these using NVC principles, which can lead us to greater understanding and connection.

We have therefore developed a Conflict Engagement pathway (put in a link here) which will be guided by experienced team members. This pathway will be set out at the start of camp and we encourage you to use it to raise anything that comes up for you.

You can simply talk to a team member and we will do our best to explore any issues with you.

We intend the camp to be a place where people can reflect on and explore their own feelings and needs, where some support may be available from other participants or facilitators. However, the camp is not a therapeutic space and this support is limited.

We would like all who attend to be able to balance their own personal needs with those of the community. So the camp might not be suitable for you if you need more support than our resources can offer.

In the unlikely case that a participant’s behaviour becomes harmful and disruptive to themselves and / or others beyond what we or the site owners feel able and willing to cope with, we may require them to leave the camp.
