Children At Camp

  • The camp is intended for all ages, people will bring children and some will come alone or with other adults.

  • In 2025 we had 10 children attend camp, ages 21 months to 15 years.

  • It is important for parents to note that there is no planned supervised childcare included as part of the camp framework. Informal arrangements are occasionally made between participants during camp. If you are a parent or carer, the camp requests that you make your own arrangements to look after your children when you are not supervising them directly.

  • Examples of activities that the children have been involved in over the years include ball games, water fights, waterslides, community games, exploring the woods, painting and crafts, face paints and glitter tattoos, jewellery making and music making with drums and guitars. They are often facilitators of the end of camp ‘No Need for Talent Show’ too!

  • We encourage everyone to mix and have fun with the community if they want to, and we respect that some will prefer to hangout with people of their own age group – be that adults or children.

  • We encourage everyone to respect each others boundaries.
  • We aim to support children at camp in a number of ways.

  • We understand that children can find it hard to make themselves heard, or may feel intimidated in a meeting of adults.

  • We have established a tradition of inviting children/young people to speak first in the Community Circle.

  • There is also the opportunity for a daily Children’s Gathering where the children find this helpful or request it, where they can raise practical issues and make requests and offers, or ask for support in saying something in the main Community Circle.

We try to support everybody who wants to contribute to camp and the community, this includes the children.

Those that are capable are invited to help out with the daily tasks e.g. preparing food, serving lunch or dinner, tidying up and washing up.

In previous years we have spent time as a community ‘off site’ usually on the Saturday afternoon, for example at the local beach when the campsite was in North Norfolk. Last year we had a community games day, and some people went to a local river for a dip!
